We invite you, your family, friends and relatives to join us in the Utsavam and be blessed by the supreme Goddess Shri Anandhavalli.
What is PavithraUtsavam?
Pavithrautsavam is the purification festival. The significance of the festival is that the priests symbolically seek the pardon of the Lord for their acts of all omissions committed either knowingly or unknowingly during the performance of daily rituals to the presiding deity inside the temple, all through the year.
As a prelude to this purification festival, Ankurarpanam is performed a day before, where in nine types of cereals are sowed in an earthen container which marks the beginning of the festival.
On the first day of Pavithrotsavam, Ganapathy poojai , Vasthu poojai followed by Homam (Prayer to Sacrificial Fire) - First kaalam , is performed at Yagasala situated inside the temple.
On the second day, second kaala and third kaala homam will be performed.

On the Final and third day, 4th kaala homam followed by Mahanyasa Rudraabhishegam, Purnahuthi,Kalasa purapadu, 64 upacharangal along with "pavithra purapadu" inside the temple premises, will be conducted. Post the Pavithra purapadu, Kalasa abhishegam, Panchamuha archanai, and Mahadeeparadhanai are performed.
The silk woven holy threads called “Pavithram” , are the sanctified threads. The unique feature about this thread is that it has five colours which are Black, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green.. “Pavitram” will be worn around the neck of the Lord before taken for the procession.

They are also tied to various deities inside the mandapam viz., Shri Asthra devar, Shri Chandikeswarar, Shri Chandrasekarar, Shri Natarajar, as well as deities of sub-temples located inside the prakaram including Shri Swarnakarshana Ganapathy, Shri Subramanya Swamy, etc. and also to Shri Anjaneya located adjacent to Swami Saneeshwaran.
These holy silk threads are woven out of a special variety of high quality cotton which is grown exclusively, for this purpose.
